Institutional relations

In order to fulfill its objective, FORO establishes cooperative relationships with regional and international organizations and institutions in areas of mutual interest in radiological, nuclear and physical security. This cooperation is essential to contribute to the development of knowledge in relevant areas and to achieve a wide dissemination of the results obtained by the FORO in countries of the Ibero-American region and beyond.

IAEA

FORO has formalized a FORO-IAEA cooperation agreement on radiological, nuclear and physical security issues (2010 English-2011 Spanish), which was updated and extended in 2017, being signed on the occasion of FORO's 20th Anniversary in Buenos Aires and subsequently in 2020. These Practical Arrangements have been extended in July 2023 for a period of three years.

WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION / PAN-AMERICAN HEALTH ORGANIZATION

FORO has shared and shares initiatives of regional and global interest with both institutions such as the Global Medical Radiation Safety Initiative (Geneva, Switzerland, December 2008), the sponsorship of the Ibero-American Conference on Radiation Protection in Medicine (Madrid, Spain, October 2016) and the participation in the International Conference on Radiation Protection in Medicine, organized among others by IAEA/WHO (December 11-15, 2017).

INTERNATIONAL RADIATION PROTECTION ASSOCIATION (IRPA)

FORO has formalized the relationship with IRPA through the signing of a practical arrangement between the two associations.

INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON RADIOLOGICAL PROTECTION (ICRP)

FORO has formalized the links with ICRP, through the designation of our association as a Special Liaison Organization (SLO).

EUROPEAN TECHNICAL SAFETY ORGANISATIONS NETWORK (ETSON)

FORO formalized the relationship with ETSON through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on the occasion of the IAEA GC (2016).

IBERO-AMERICAN GENERAL SECRETARIAT (SEGIB)

The FORO maintains a relationship with SEGIB with the objective of generating a common Ibero-American work space and promoting the FORO's activities within the General Secretariat community.
